This is a sewing pattern for a Victorian or Edwardian men´s Norfolk Jacket worn about 1900 for cycling, riding, and hunting.

A jacket named “Norfolk Jacket” appears in English fashion illustrations from 1860 as a jacket for young men.

The Norfolk jacket shown in this sewing pattern is based on a pattern from the book “The International System of garment cutting” by J. P. Thornton, London 1885, and on an extant Jacket from the V&A Museum London.
The jacket is single-breasted and can be buttoned up to the collar in rainy weather. It has no yoke and straps are attached to the fronts and back, acting as belt loops. Big patch pockets are sewn to the fronts.
I recommend a sturdy jacket and coat fabrics from wool or wool blends, as well as linen. Avoid lightweight modern suit fabrics.
These instructions show the classic tailoring of a men´s jacket. All interfacing/canvas can be replaced by fusible as desired and modern working can be chosen but will not be mentioned further in the instructions.

Also suitable for steampunk or cosplay costumes.
