This is a sewing pattern for an Edwardian Skirt, worn from about 1890 to 1910.
The pattern shows two skirt variations, both with or without a box pleat at the center back, and the pattern for a dip-waist belt is included.
For reaching the desired Edwardian silhouette, the skirt should be worn with a matching corset and bustle pad. To emphasize the S-bend shape, the skirt ruffle is 4” (10cm) wider at the back than at the front.
The skirt closes with hooks and eyes, and snap fasteners at the center back.
View A and petticoat: A simple unlined skirt, fitted around the hips, with the ruffle running around the hem. The petticoat has no placket, just a vent, and a narrow waistband, and is tied up in the front with cotton tape. The skirt and petticoat can be lined up with the wrong sides together to a common waistband.
View B: The skirt is fitted around the hips with an optional deep box pleat at the center back. The front panel runs down to the hem, the ruffle is optionally cut on the bias (View C). Just the panels are lined, covering all the raw seam allowances inside.
The sewing pattern is also suitable for steampunk costumes.
