This is a DIGITAL sewing pattern for men´s fall front breeches worn around 1800.

This sewing pattern shows breeches of the late 18th and early 19th century with a fall front, side pockets, and a coin pocket at the waistband (welt pocket). The breeches are buttoned at the knee, the narrow knee band is closed with ribbons. They have a wide waistband, buttoned in the front underneath the fall, the width of the waistband can be regulated with a cotton tape at the back. Compared to modern trousers, the breeches have a wide back and diverging legs to get the width needed while sitting on horseback. They are cut with one seam only along the outside leg, optionally the second leg seam can be added easily.

Breeches for Father Christmas

Using this pattern for an old school Santa Claus. Easy to follow written and illustrated instructions. Thank you.

Gute Beschreibung, unpassendes Ergebnis

Schade.

Good pattern, kind of annoying to alter for wide hips

Good pattern! The pocket flaps are a little fiddly to alter, especially to account for large waist-to-hip ratio (I took out a dart on them), but other than that it’s a wonderful pattern! Next time I’ll likely incorporate the pockets into the side seam rather than deal with the flaps, because with my hips, I also have to undo the pocket buttons to take them off, which brings it up to 9 buttons to undo to take off the breeches. Love the breeches though, and that there’s no inner-leg seam.
